At last the referendum has a date, now be prepared to be inundated with misleading and scaremongering stories and supposed facts.
How many remember when De Gaul said no to our entry? (He wasn’t treated at all well by the Allies during WW2)
He was also frightened that we would take away some of his glory.
The United Kingdom joined the European Economic Community on the 1st January 1973, in those days we were told it was a trading group.
We were misled both by Wilson and Heath.
I wonder if we will be able to get some true facts this time, I doubt it? At least thanks to the World Wide Web we are better able to do some research.
If we had control of our own borders at least we would be able to police them properly, yes it would be at a price, but it would be well worth it. We would also be able to plan the usage of our facilities better and have a good idea of how many houses would be required long term as well as plan the better usage of the NHS.
All I can say is if you are going to vote in the referendum do your research, don’t believe all that you are told by either group and remember that we as a nation have friends and relatives all over the world, even if we abandoned some of them when we joined the EU. Lets hope they are forgiving.
China is one of the largest importers of Rolls Royce Cars, also think of how much we import from China and the Far East. The Call Centers are also outside of the EU, so even now we do not depend on the EU for everything.
It would be interesting to make a list of everything the EU insisted we change even when we didn’t want to. I bet it would be a large one. By the same token some good things have come from the EU so it will not be an easy decision to make.
